In 2022, I asked for your trust and made a commitment to build a brighter future for San Gabriel. You gave me that opportunity, and I have never taken that trust for granted.
Since then, I have worked to turn those commitments into results: strengthening our financial foundation, improving our streets and infrastructure, supporting public safety, creating new traditions that bring our community together, honoring those who served our country, and opening new doors for San Gabriel beyond our borders.
We have made real progress. But progress is not a reason to slow down. It is a responsibility to keep moving forward.
Today, I am asking for your trust once again — not simply to continue what we started, but to build upon it and prepare San Gabriel for the opportunities and challenges ahead.

During John’s first term, San Gabriel moved from financial uncertainty to a significantly stronger fiscal position — and was removed from the California State Auditor’s “high-risk” designation.
Financial strength gives a city choices: to invest in public safety, repair streets, improve parks, and plan for the future without unnecessarily burdening residents.
Continued investment in street improvements brought San Gabriel’s Pavement Condition Index to 85 — among the strongest in the region.
John also supported advancing a $5 million fiber-optic modernization project connecting City facilities and traffic signals — infrastructure that’s not always visible, but essential to a smarter, better-connected city.
John has consistently supported investments in the resources, facilities, and technology that help our Police and Fire Departments serve our community effectively. He is advocating for a new, modern Public Safety Building to provide our first responders with the facilities they need to protect San Gabriel for generations to come.
San Gabriel also achieved zero traffic fatalities in 2024, an important milestone in the continuing work toward safer streets and a safer community.
New traditions that have become part of the story of our city.
John initiated San Gabriel's Independence Day Drone Celebration, creating a new tradition where families and neighbors come together to celebrate our country as one community.
John created the Lantern Festival and helped establish a ten-year cultural partnership with the Taiwan Tourism Administration, bringing world-class Taiwanese lantern artistry to San Gabriel at no cost to the City.
John helped establish Memorial Day as an important City tradition and is advocating for a permanent Veterans Memorial Monument at Plaza Park.
John believes international relationships should always serve a local purpose — creating friendships, tourism, and economic opportunities that ultimately benefit the people and businesses of San Gabriel.
He helped establish two new sister-city relationships in Taiwan — with Banqiao District in New Taipei City and Hualien County — and represented San Gabriel at the United Nations University in Tokyo, all without spending City funds.
The first phase was about building a stronger foundation. The next phase is about what we do with it.
Protecting our reserves, supporting responsible budgets, and making sure taxpayer dollars are invested wisely — so today's decisions don't become tomorrow's burdens.

The 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games will bring the world to Los Angeles and create extraordinary opportunities throughout the San Gabriel Valley. San Gabriel must be ready — positioning our restaurants, businesses, hotels, and historic destinations to benefit from increased tourism and international attention.
But 2028 is not our destination. It is a milestone.
